Lunch at L’oiseau blanc (**), Paris (jan 3 2023)

  1. L’oiseau blanc feels like a solid one star restaurant in a great location – there might be some Paris-specific star inflation going on.
Overlooking the city on 6th floor of a luxury hotel, aviation-themed and with 270 degree windows, this is just a marvelous place to have a meal. Iconic and unique location, perfectly pulled off. When the sun shines, everything is embraced in this beautiful light.
The food is classic french, most dishes tasted ok but were quite forgettable. Drinks were very expensive with the cheapest wines around 30€. There was snootiness in the air.
The lunch comes in pretty cheap at 95€ for 3 courses but you might be better off going for a good one star dinner instead or have lunch at l’abysse (**) – see my other recent post.

  2. This looks great, some of the best presentation and flavour combinations I’ve seen yet.

Does every starred restaurant use that white plate with the bubble imprint pattern on the edge? It’s everywhere!

We went here back when it was 1 star. At the time we felt it barely at 1* standard and was probably given benefit of the doubt due to location and view. I was quite surprised to see it obtain another star.

  5. What did the tobacco leaf taste like. It sounds disgusting. Planning my second trip to Paris and this was on my list. This review has me second guessing
