This was my first 3 Michelin star experience and it was definitely a step up from 2 star restaurants I have visited in the past. Quality of ingredients used was incredible throughout the dinner and the service was very professional, though maybe a little distant.

This is the full menu in English:

    –       Roasted cabbage & pickles / »Müritz« eel & rhubarb / Pork chin & rutabaga

    –       Springwater trout & Kohlrabi, charcoal

    –       Homemade bread and butter

    –       Scallop flavors & kale

    –       Rutz N25 caviar & crustacean, hazelnut (optional course)

    –       Bitter salads & yellow beet, stockfish

    –       Tideland oyster & pollack, Sauerkraut

    –       Quail & broccoli, lovage

    –       Onion & leeks, beef & potato

    –       Venison & black trumpet mushrooms, blackberry

    –       Red cabbage & sheep’s yogurt

    –       Plum & wild rose, oxalic acid

    –       Hay & pine, yeast dumpling

We had a wine pairing that was mainly focused on German wine, but also included a Meursault, and a lovely Austrian Sauvignon Blanc. The price was €350 + €49 for the caviar course. Overall, I had a great time and wouldn’t hesitate recommending this restaurant to people visiting Berlin.

Rutz definitely is something special and worth its price tag. I’m following this restaurant since they received their second star. Marco Müller has a great talent to showcase a product without giving you the feeling of being lectured about its region, season and quality (which I sometimes find very distracting in the Berlin fine dining landscape).
