  1. Atelier Crenn has been on my bucket list for so long, I’m super glad I finally got to try it!

It wasn’t as hard as I was expecting to get a reservation for this time period — maybe most people leave the Bay Area during the holiday season?

We opted for the “Winter Solstice” menu which is their typical menu plus a few added dishes. at ~450PP for the tasting menu + 275PP for a wine pairing, it definitely isn’t cheap but it felt worth it for the level of food, presentation, and service that we recieved.

Our group spent roughly 4 hours dining and it didn’t feel long at all. The pacing and portion of the dishes were perfect and the time really flew by.

Of the savory dishes, I’d say my standouts were definitely the lobster tartare and the onions&pearls. The flavors and textures of the lobster tartare were so fun, plus the broth was intoxicatingly good. I loved the presentation of the onions&pearls so much, & the broth that was paired with that was also incredible.

For the dessert courses, diners are moved to their neighboring Bar Crenn. The lighting wasn’t as good there, so I didn’t manage to get good pictures of the desserts, but they were also very fun and light. Not too sweet either, which I appreciate.

I was initially worried that 16ish courses would be too much food, but the portion sizes were perfect. I left feeling full, but not stuffed. Additionally, since it’s a fully pescatarian menu, it felt a lot lighter than other tasting menus I’ve had that end w/ red meat or the like.

I also really enjoyed the wine pairing, but I’m not sure it felt worth 275USD. If I do end up going again, I might just pick a bottle instead.

    Overall amazing experience!!

Yum!! Atelier Crenn has been my top fine dining experience ever, it’s such a cozy spot with stunning plating. And oh so good! The sea urchin first course is my top two bite of all time (narrowly beaten by the sea urchin toast at Saison). Very fun to see how the menu has changed since, makes me want to go back ASAP!

  3. It looks good! is it me though or does everything sf just feel more overrated now. Like a 1star in Paris is like 1/3 the cost and often still better. Not sure maybe I’m way wrong

  4. I remember dating a woman from San Francisco who’s friend was taken on a first, online date to this restaurant because it was fancy-ish and down the street from where they lived. I’d never heard of it, but immediately wanted to try it after she told me her experience. It was right after it opened and they said it was something special. I wish I was able to try it then.

  5. I’m not one to usually go crazy for good looking food but my god that looks heavenly take the upvote my friend

It is a very good restaurant but they don’t change their menu very often. I was there in March and had the same exact dishes as you did in December. I am assuming desserts might have been different.

Wow I am actually floored by this! It looks gorgeous, and I def want to go there! Can you talk to me about the wine pairing? Was it a different glass with each course? Did you all get pretty tipsy with the wine pairing?
