Never seen this before, lardo packed in Salt in a stainless bin. Never seen a reaction doing this before either, but not ruling anything out. Found some spots not up against the metal aswell.

Clean that spot off on the bin and see if it’s rust. Yes stainless will rust (it’s stain-less, not stain-none), particularly under certain conditions such as saltwater, which is essentially what you have at that contact point.
