Saison(**)
Saison sure knows how to turn out a top-notch evening! We had dinner on a busy Friday, but felt like we were the most important people in the room. We were seated side by side facing the open kitchen, which was a real treat. It’s incredible to see what they can do with an, honestly, unimpressive wood-fire hearth. This meal was a little less “adventurous” than most of the fine dining scene I’ve explored, but it was clear that the caliber of the cooking and sourcing of ingredients are in a league of their own. Every dish was a delight, but the wine pairings really stole the show for me. Their beverage director, Molly Greene, knows what she’s going, and she was kind enough to catch us as we were leaving and chat for a minute after I told our server how impressed I was with the pairings. Saison is a San Francisco classic that everyone into fine dining should try at least once.
