Seta

Went to the two starred Seta in the mandarin oriental last night. I chose the classics menu – I wanted the crustacean one more, probably, but decided with a week of food I couldn’t justify the 90 euros uplift. It was great for the most part. Highlights were the poached oyster in champagne sauce, the fig fed chicken breast, liquorice parfait with coffee cream and a great cheese board. By far the best dish was a beautifully, unctuous, cheesy risotto with raspberry powder and a herb sauce. This was out of this world and the risotto was cooked absolutely perfectly. Some dishes not to my taste – my eel was incredibly gelatinous but I was assured it was meant to be that way. I also thought that for a classic tasting menu there was quite a lot of repeated ingredients. Radish appeared a good four times and both the main and the dessert had strong coffee tastes. Overall….pretty good. I think you have better options in Milan though.
