I had the Chef's tasting menu at Aquavit on 6/15.
This was my 3rd visit, and again I enjoyed a wonderful dining experience. The layout was average with a limited view of the kitchen. The service, however, was outstanding. The food is definitely worthy of the two stars.
I did not choose the caviar supplement and I don't do wine pairings.
The cocktails were decent but not top notch.
Descriptions as follows:
1: King Salmon with green strawberry. 9/10, taste and presentation were top class.
2: Scallops with rhubarb. 10/10. Excellent dish. The flavor and texture of the ingredients made this my favorite.
3: King Crab with Meyer Lemon. This was a well balanced dish. I though it was very good but I wished the flavor of the crab was more dominant.
4: Snapper and apple. The snapper was delicious and the reduction with the roe added a nice touch. The apple did not add much in my opinion.
5: Venison with huckleberry and roasted lettuce. This was good, but I am not very fond of meat.
6: Artic Birdnest. Excellent balance of flavors and textures, making it one of the best desserts I ever had.
Not shown was the spot prawns and caviar. This was also 9/10 with a great balance of flavors.
Overall: Great fine dining experience

  1. Nice review but… I’d be so pissed if someone served me that salmon dish at a 2-star lol

I’ve been interested in trying Aquavit.
What is wrong with the salmon and why the critical comments? Genuinely interested.
