Sorry for the lackluster photos and missing the first small plate, the century egg. We got a little extra dessert the citrus cake you see barely pictured and already dug into.

Benu was my first Michelin restaurant, went with 2 other friends on July 23rd 2024. Didn't do the wine pairing but we did do a series of 2 wines and a sake by recommendation. Reading so many reviews of the fine dining restaurants in the area I was a bit hesitant but I'm so glad we ended up choosing Benu.

Being Korean myself every dish, other than the century egg, felt very familiar and the best version of the dishes I've ever had. For example the quality and flavor of the rice that came with the prawn and marinated crab dishes felt unreal.

Previous reviewers noted that the decor was boring but it felt perfect to me. Definitely subdued but well executed and seamless with the traditional Korean pots fermenting sauces outside.

For my party the highlight dishes were the melon dessert, the marinated crab, and the quail (particularly the BAO that came with it was so simple and incredible).

Along with the food the staff were also incredible. I'm not sure if she'd be referred to as a "host" but the woman who sat us at the table and checked in with us between dishes was a highlight. She matched our vibe perfectly and made the experience so fun.

Although I don't have much fine dining experience (actually went to Saison the following night, might post a review of that as well) this meal was perfect for me and I'll definitely be back.
