This is probably a real stupid question, but I genuinely don’t know. I bought some Brie, cause brie is great, but most other times I’ve had Brie it was prepped for me and in the past when I got my own I just cut it off either way. It feels real papery to me but it’s like totally stuck to the cheese if it is. Kinda tastes papery too but I just gave a piece a little lick. I can pull pieces off and it seems like paper but why is it so stuck to the cheese if it is? Do I just really dislike the rind of Brie?

  1. The brie I’ve gotten from Costco has always had paper packaging. It might be very compact but you should be able to get it off

  2. Not the best solution but if you can’t just peel it off with your hands, take a slice out. It should be like butter with the wrapper still on. If you don’t see that layer then it’s probably just the rind that’s been very compacted by the packaging.

  3. In the photo, you just have the rind.  The paper you removed already pressed a pattern into it, this is normal.

  4. Have you not eaten Brie before? It has a layer of bloomy rind that is made up of the bacteria and mold used to make the cheese. It’s usually kind of soft and fuzzy feeling and it’s perfectly edible.

Cook some fresh bacon nice n crispy. Let it dry. Take a skillet and add maple syrup (about 1 cup) and put on medium heat. Warm and stir. Add bacon crunched up keep stirring. After another 5 mins throw it in the oven (RIND ON) for about 25-30. Slice up some fresh baguette and then take out of oven. Grab a spoon and break open rind! It’ll be ooey gooey melty. Add that on bread with a dollop of the maple syrup and bacon bits l! Soooooo good.

  6. LOL! It’s the rind. Also, sometimes the rind will start to grow back. It’s still edible after that.
