Had my first Michelin star experience at AnnaLena in Vancouver a little while ago and really enjoyed it! Only managed to get a handful of decent photos.

The mussels and shrimp in the dill vin blanc with the bread and cream cheese caviar was the standout dish for me (I didn’t want it to end!!!) followed by the oyster mushroom in hollandaise. My partner’s favorite was the oyster with shaved foie. Really enjoyed the other plates, the only exception being their take on a PB&J – it was weird and I didn’t think the flavours worked together.

The stand out items on the premium wine pairing were the 2008 Dom Rosé, which was quite the interesting pairing with the Wagyu, and the 2010 Dom which was delicious. They had some great wines on both otherwise though, so unless you’re invested in having Dom, I’d probably just go with the standard pairing. The Silvaner was probably my favorite of the night aside from the 2010 Dom.

Friendly and attentive service that felt really seamless. It was definitely a step above the other fine dining places we’ve been to. I liked the ambiance of the place. Side note, we also liked the hand soap in the bathrooms so much that we made a note and ordered some for home.

I would love to have dinner there again just so I could enjoy the dill dish one more time!!!
