8 bucks on a coffee can get you a dozen eggs for a few dollars and a bag of frozen vegetables including rice. Eating healthy can be expensive but so can be obesity along with other health issues that’ll come right behind it

This is BS. I do all of the shopping and cooking in our home. We’re both in a deficit and eat very well balanced diets. My grocery budget is minimal. We do spend more on carbs since we buy low cal pasta and bread. But lean protein, vegetables, and (most) fruit is very inexpensive compared to 80% of processed food. Is it easy? No. Is prep time longer? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. Food that tastes good, is good for you, and light on the wallet 💯

I only tend to have 3-4 types of fresh fruits or vegetables in my fridge at any given time and half the time it still goes bad. I could only imagine buying that much and trying to use it all daily before all that $$$ goes bad. I think some stores will let you buy all of that stuff in smaller amounts, but my local chains don’t.

Prep time can be frustrating but compared to the crap on the left it’s a good trade. And I shop at my farmers market near me. Avocados are 3 for $1. Bananas are barely 50 cent a pound. The lettuce and other produce are cheaper than typical grocery stores and typically as close to clean and/or organic. Yes you shop more as you eat more but the person who chooses to eat healthier should shop prices in the area not just compare to Walmart or big grocery store chains.

Absolutely the healthy side is cheaper if in season and you are buying larger quantities. The groceries to make the meals pictured would probably run about $40 where I live and you would get at least enough for 4 meals/people to eat, the processed side would easily be 20 bucks or more. The shittiest grocery store sandwiches are $7-10 chips are $2.50 pop is $3 pastries are $3-6Starbucks $5-10.
None of the healthy things are even prep intensive?

I mean if you replaced the normal cola with diet cola and the starbucks with a black coffee and stevia sweetener, the left side suddenly becomes only 1100kcal.. you can now put some French fries (150g=200kcal) , two biscuits of digestive (141 kcal) and some chicken breast (100g) and now the left side doesn’t look so bad

And if that was a chocolate crossaint thats a 525kcal you can just remove it and instead get a cup of ice cream , some english cake or muffin and you would even have an extra 100kcal to spare , or maybe straight up get a Macdonald burger to replace the crossaint if you really felt you crave some fast food

“Unhealthy” food can easily fit your diet if you played your cards correctly

Also not every has enough time for prep, or space to freeze those since they go bad super fast, or has farmer’s markets near them to get them cheaper (and most food pantries don’t have that stuff either). Not to mention allergies, sensory issues, etc. It’s honestly exhausting to eat healthy and requires a lot more than people want to admit. I’m lucky I’m able to do it now.

  8. This one picture doesn’t tell an entire story..

Cost wise, left side will be more expensive over time. Without a doubt.

You can make healthy real good meals for 2 or 3 bucks a meal, easy.

Mfs have never heard of serving sizes lol. You don’t use every single item you buy all at once. You can make dishes with a lot of them multiple times, making the overall cost still cheaper.

Me eating my $15 peanut butter that’s half the calories of regular peanut butter

  11. I always hate these kinds of posts. Yes, you should eat healthy a majority of the time, but some days it is okay to indulge in food that is higher calorie as long as it’s not a habit. Sometimes you have a craving you need to fill. Food shouldn’t be shamed.

I get the point, but the two are probably not too different in price. Go to a cheap fruit/veggie market and it should come to about equal or even less than star bucks, croissant and whatever other BS there is.
