1.5 cups pictured. 142 calories per cup of soup. This is so cheap too, only $1 for a bag of split peas!

To make 11 cups of soup:

    * cook 1 lb bag of split peas according to directions (used 6 cups of water to 1 lb peas)
    * about 3/4 way through cooking add 2 T of “No Chicken” Better than Bouillon When finished take out a portion of peas, puree and put back in pot.
    * sauté 1/2 onion, 3 chopped carrots, 1/2 c frozen corn, 1 chopped mini sweet pepper
    * add veggies & and 7 T of nutritional yeast to cooked peas and stir. Salt and pepper to taste. If you don’t like nutritional yeast you can leave it out. I just added it for bonus protein, but the peas themselves are already high in protein.

    >I estimated the bread to be 100 cals, but not sure. The bread cals are not included in the 213 cals for the soup, obviously.

**edit – others made the suggestion to add liquid smoke or smoked paprika and I think either would be a great addition.**

This looks so great, and very versatile too! There’s a lot of variety to be had in this recipe pending what spices/other veggies someone has on hand 🙂 love it, thanks for sharing!

    Wow, it looks amazing!

^(Is this the place to complain about how many store bought pea soups have ham in them?)
