30 cal per tbsp is a lot but I never use that much anyway. I’m obsessed with umami and this goes great on rice, avocado toast, and/or eggs! I got this one from a nearby Asian grocery store, but I think TJ’s has their own brand as well.

Ingredients: sesame seed, sugar, seaweed, salt, maltodexrrin, disodium succinate, disodium inosate.

Disodium inosate can sometimes be made as a product of meat, but I double checked – in here, it is vegan.

  2. omg japanese people know this shit is the best. growing up i used to ask my dad if i could have “magic on my rice?” meaning this stuff

  3. I always look in my asian grocery store for this and never find it! Any advice? Maybe I’m not looking in the right place?

  4. Head’s up, not every version of this brand of furikake is vegan, but a lot are. Read the ingredients!

Love this stuff and have two containers in my pantry currently. 10/10. Just be careful because there are non- vegan versions!

  6. vegan furikake flavors in order of how much I like them:
    1. shiso
    2. nori
    3. sesame
    4. wasabi

I love this stuff so so so much. Really jazzes up a simple bowl of rice or cup of ramen

  8. Hey I know this stuff! I think I actually got mine at Walmart, but I live in a predominantly Asian area, so I guess it would be to my Walmart’s benefit to stock a few more Asian food products than your typical Walmart.
