Went to have a few rashers of veggie bacon this morning and thought I was going mad. I was pretty sure there used to be 8. Looked online and it looks like they are shrinking the amount of rashers to 6. Sadly keeping at the same price. Anyone else noticed this?

Yep their frozen meat free sausages have shrunk as well they still have 8 in a pack but the sausages are more cocktail sized now – same price

My main concern is that the amount of packaging is almost the same for even less content. Most vegan meat and cheese replacement products use a ton of plastic for a tiny bit of content.

  3. Not to sound like a total asshole but it’s vaguely reassuring this shinkflation isn’t exclusive to the US

Asda with their frozen cream donuts , I occasionally buy them as handy to have in the freezer, they were a pack of 6 for £1 , Tesco had them too. I noticed my last shop that not only has Asda increased the price too £1.35 but there is also only 5 donuts!! I mean WTF! Tesco still have the 6 pack for a quid, for now at least.. but this shrinkflation at the same time as inflation is getting out of hand!

Btw Asda still seem to have stock of the 8 pack of veggie Richmond bacon, they are on offer just now for £2 . Other places might have them too , well until they run out of stock and use the shrinkflation packs….

  5. It’s called Shrinkflation and it’s been happening to products – both food and non food – across the board for at least 20 years. It’s a nasty, weasily way food sellers and manufacturers claim they are not raising prices. It it also environmentally damaging because it increases the packaging to product ratio at a time when the use of non recyclable plastics is discouraged
