  1. Visited “The Jane” in Belgium in June.

Without a doubt, the best overall restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Restaurant was fully booked on a weekday lunch service, so I was very lucky to get a solo reservation in the first place.

Everything was just right… the setting (former military hospital chapel), the ambience (decorations, semi open kitchen), the delicious food (heavy focus on seafood), the service was excellent as well. Very friendly staff, very attentive, while the waiters kept changing from course to course they kept notes on our brief chats before/after courses so that there was no big “break”, I was surprised that even the head chef asked me (when going through the restaurant at the end of service) about an music festival I was planning to attend to a couple of days after (actually the reason I was in Belgium in the first place)…. a detail I just mentioned briefly to the reception staff and first waiter when entering the restaurant.

Music was really really really cool as well, throughout service there was light ambient/lounge music (which I’m a big fan of). Interesting contrast to the old church setting, volume was just right that it enhanced the setting without it being the main focus.

Without a doubt, I will visit again.

  2. Kinda sad I hadn’t heard of this place earlier. It looks incredible and creative, love the touches like the stained glass window.

  3. We just booked a res here in November for our road trip in our new Volvo (from the Volvo factory to Amsterdam) and your review is getting me so excited! Can’t wait – thanks for posting

  4. Dang, I was just in Antwerp. Wish I visited here.

I went to Le Pristine (*) and highly recommend. Also Maven, while it doesn’t have any stars it is ranked as the #[33 best steakhouse in the world](https://www.worldbeststeaks.com/items-1/033) and it was one of the best meals I have ever had, Michelin or not.

I just went here. Though I agree the food was extraordinary, I felt the service to be extremely cold towards us. We also felt rushed to make a decision on our beverage pairing. (Usually we like to build our own pairing in lieu of the set pairing). Overall a 4/5 for me.

I was just there at the end of June, myself! We had the same menu and absolutely adored it. One thing you didn’t mention was the bread; I also didn’t get a picture of it but it was possibly the best bread I’ve ever had. It’s amongst the best restaurants I’ve been to as well. I also want to add that the meal is a long, leisurely meal **on a couch**. I hope more tasting menus can be on couches.
