Visited Bottiglieria 1881 in the trendy Kazimierz neighborhood of Kraków, Poland in November of last year. At the time, Chef Klima Przemyslaw and his team had one Michelin star, but have since become the first restaurant in Poland to receive 2 stars. They emphasize using seasonal/local ingredients and traditional Polish recipes and techniques. We went with the Full Experience of 13 courses (approx. 100 USD per person) and the non-alcoholic pairing. For the two of us, it cost about 275 USD.

Courses in order of service as well as photos:

Autumnal flavors – sliced meat with produce / mushroom in broth (one biter)

Grains – creamy oat and seed dip

Bread – fresh bread and puffed multigrain cracker

Game meat – venison tartare with parsley and mushroom

Oscietra – sturgeon with caviar and horseradish

Dumplings – peirogies in cheese and truffle sauce

From the sea – cod with cream and sea greens

Onion – onion mousse with truffle and onion wafer

Local beef – beef with pea and beet in miso / oxtail in rice crisps (one biter)

Forest floor – spiced chocolate truffle (one biter)

Blueberries – iced blueberry concentrate with freeze-dried bleu cheese / airy blueberry whip

Cinnamon roll – spiced crispy cinnamon rolls / fresh ice cream with pumpkin

Candies – chocolate / berry and vodka

An overall incredible experience. Every course was delicious and complex in their own, sometimes indescribable, way. My top 3 dishes were grains, local beef, and cinnamon roll with game meat and dumplings as honorable mentions. All staff were amazingly attentive in table upkeep and interesting in describing the courses while the atmosphere was upscale yet cozy and familiar. Shout-out to the non-alcoholic pairing – seven separate pairs with the full red wine and aromatic gin being the favorites with great detailing by the staff.

Props to Chef Przemyslaw and all staff, their 2nd star is well deserved! I highly recommend Bottiglieria 1881 to anyone in the area for an affordable high-quality Michelin experience.

  1. I’ve done a few fine dining experiences but not so experienced. Noticed from hanging around here that many menus seem to be heavy on the desserts? Is that common?
