the pastry portion is a tartlet or mini-tart shell, I think you can buy those pre-made if you want to roll your own. Also they are relatively easy to make, being a quick bread (no lamination, no yeast, essentially shortbread).

I usually make them myself rather than buying them so I can control the ratios better.
The shells are tough to make tho.
Once you got those down the custard is pretty simple.
