  1. Solid flavors throughout except the dessert. But nothing stood out. Atomix bar tasting blew it out of the water.

Thank you for sharing!I had the bar tasting menu back in 2021 and while it was good (and similar in setup as yours it seems), I was not blown away by it either. Every dish was beautiful and well prepared, but the flavor profiles were just too similar. I was in the main dining room pre vegan era once, which was incredible.

One thing that really is great about the bar menu at EMP and the respective area is how similar the service, attention and atmosphere is to the actual dining room. In my impression, you have the same amount of staff dedicated to you, can also have kitchen tours, and really do feel the grand “old New York” vibe that the main dining area is so special for.

So if you are not crazy about the food, but want to just have a good and fancy experience, the bar area actually was not a bad “deal” in my opinion.

I generally think that EMP is really all about the service, location and grand, but refined atmosphere. Since it went vegan, the food has not been bad, but still quite underwhelming. However, I believe that there still is quite some potential and I hope Humm continues to advance it…

Oh, and I was also really disappointed by the dessert. Even when I dined at EMP pre-vegan it was one of the weak points of the meal…

One of the most overrated, if not the most overrated, restaurants I’ve been to.. And this was before the vegetarian pivot.

Not to add, I was told not to take photos with my phone (my phone without flash, mind you), because a big shot director was there apparently dining. Lmao.

EMP went hard on the new world wave of climate awareness… I think stone barns does something 100 times more sustainable.
