Reddit only allows upload of 20 photos, so these were the starting courses at Atelier Crenn. We had the pescatarian and dairy-free tasting menu. Overall we much enjoyed the experience compared to French Laundry, the only other 3-star I’ve been to. The dishes felt lighter and we were able to finish without feeling stuffed, though there were perhaps fewer standout dishes. The crab broth was our favorite dish, and the oyster. I also got the nonalcoholic beverage pairing.

A fine array of colours, though I see what you mean by ‘lighter’; some look a little too ‘finger-foody’ to me, even accounting for amuse bouche. The lack of meat probably helps it feel lighter, too.

Glad you enjoyed it 👍 what’s the one on pic 10 (the black one)?

  2. The menu was almost 90% the same as the one I had this summer. Only 13/14/15 was different than what I had.

How was the experience overall compared to some other 3*?

  3. I went to Crenn about 2 years ago. I found that the dishes were less standout but overall tasted delicious (there’s a difference between good and delicious too). But it has been one of my more enjoyable/delicious 3* menus I’ve eaten.

  4. This meal ranks at #1 to me, it was just a delightful meal! Glad they’re still crushing it, looks delicious 🙂

  5. I once briefly dated a chef who previously worked at Atelier Crenn. He came over and we made seafood pasta together. Hand made pasta on a weeknight ! Mussels, shrimp, all the good stuff. Then we watched the Atelier Crenn chefs table episode on Chefs table (netflix). Always get a little reminder when I see it posted here. One day I shall go. I don’t even remember the chefs name.

  6. I drop by once every few years or so and every time I go, it feels like a different restaurant… I guess this time in particular was post-renovation, so changes were to be expected, but the main course with black cod and steamed buns felt super weird in that I wasn’t expecting the menu to be so Asian-inspired. (there was also mention of house-made “kewpie” mayo for one of the other dishes)

I’m all for chefs experimenting and doing whatever they want, and for what it’s worth the black cod was ridiculously delicious.

Best meal of my life was here in Feb 2020. Been dreaming about this food for 3.5 years now.
