Atomix, **, NYC. It is definitely a two starred restaurant…

Dining at Atomix was a great experience, even though it did not meet all of my expectations.

The dishes demonstrate incredible knowledge and transformations of Korean cuisine. The highlights of the night were bluefin tuna and the chicken soup.

The menu struggled to keep its excellence after the rockfish course. The tilefish course tasted like something that a generic modern French restaurant would offer. The main (A5 Wagyu) was not as imaginative as the courses before. The desserts could use some help from a pastry chef.

The non-alcoholic paring was the best paring experience I’ve ever had. It was very thoughtful and experimental. The tea that they paired with the dessert elevated its plainness to another level.

This is probably the most hyped restaurant in the US now. This review is a reminder to keep your expectations in check.
