I use to love this brand/ sausage but I feel like they changed their recipe or something! I hate them now. The texture is really weird to me and it’s not as firm as it use to be… or am I crazy lol. To be fair I love freezing them and keeping them on hand so is that maybe what’s up with the texture change?

their “stadium” dogs are the best veg hot dogs imo

I love them. But I don’t usually get the apple one.

yes they’re good, but the frankfurters are THE BEST

They are one of the better tasting veggie sausages on the market imo. The Italian is delicious. I buy some almost every week.

Love them pan-fried on a bun with mustard and sauerkraurt

Field roast is one of the better fake meat options, IMO.

I absolutely LOVE cutting the chipotle ones in half lengthwise and pan frying them as spicy sausage link replacements on hot dog buns. Very strong, satisfying flavor and good texture!

I have diced these up into Mac ‘n cheese or lasagna, but I don’t like them on their own as ‘sausages’

Italian flavor from this brand is the best one on the market imo

They’re delicious but with all veggie products, watch the sodium if you’ve got blood pressure issues. They’re packed with salt.

One of the best vegan sausages out there! Also if possible I’d try Nutcase Meats it’s delicious and made with good ingredients 🙂

I really like the apple sage flavor topped with Dijon mustard and vinegar slaw, but the plastic always seems to leak on mine. I also really like the maple breakfast minis.

I love them all. The apple/sage is a really great savory flavor that is a perfect replacement for stuffing/dressing recipes during the holidays.

I like them for the most part, but they’re very salty.

They each have their uses! I love browning the apple smoked and sage and breaking them down into some wild rice and stuffing acorns or butternut squash!

We like the italian ones. We slice them up, pan fry in olive oil and add to pasta. Really simple dish: sautee garlic and onions in olive oil, add sliced sausages, salt, pepper, italian seasonings of choice. Toss with farfalle, top with fresh chopped parsley and a squeeze of lemon. Vegan parm or nooch also great as a topper. It’s a vegan version of a weeknight dinner my mom made a lot when I was growing up.

I like these in the apple flavour, but they are not my go too. They crumble too easily, break apart, get way too dry fast, and above all WAY TOO SALTY. They need a better binder for chewinness.

Italian is my favorite. Love the original formula, was very sausage like! The last time i had them they were a bit more on the hotdog side.

These are an amazing line of fake meats. The flavour is great and the ingredients contain a nice variety of veg. unlike some of the nasty soy-heavy imitation meats.
Imo, field roast and gardin are some of the best.

The Chipotle Mexican ones are amazing but will stain everything they touch.

I don’t care for them at all, while my husband adores them. No idea why we feel the way we do, we just accept that we are a house divided.

This brand is among the first of plant based meats I tried after newly becoming vegetarian. Truthfully, I despised the taste and the texture. My husband knows that if something is just *meh*, I will still make an effort to eat it after I improve the taste somehow. I really dislike food waste. With this, I had to throw it away.
Yes, I should give this brand a try again now that some more time has passed, and especially because I see so many others here who do enjoy it. I would still try other brands before coming back to this one, though.

I made two batches of “pigs in a blanket” and had both Lightlife Veggie Dogs and Field Roast Frankfurters on hand. I usually just use the Lightlife for blankets but lately that brand of dogs has seemed off, maybe due to a recipe change. I’ve made the blankets with the Field Roast before but this was the first time we’ve had them side by side. My girls said that the Field Roast were far better hands down. They are expensive though so I tend to wait till they’re on sale and buy in bulk and put in my deep freeze. Fortunately my local grocer (Ingles) marks down their refrigerated veggie products to $1.99-2.99 three days before the best buy date and then I’ll buy everything marked down.

Never been a Field Roast fan myself, though more because of their deli slices. Something about their flavor has never worked for me.

I’ve used them to make a dish with kale, white beans and onions. It’s a very forgiving dish but I’ll usually sauté the onions then add the sausage and cook for a while. Then add everything else. I usually season with salt, pepper and garlic. Add broth a little at a time until you like the consistency.
