I wanted to knock eating at a Michelin Starred Restaurant off my bucket list. While visiting San Francisco I ate at Gary Danko’s. Customer service amazing, most food delicious but plating meh. I will say the “beef medallions” were just very plain…. I’m not sure what they were missing but I’m a huge steak person and was unimpressed.

The cheeses provided were gross. He didnt tell me anything about them so I just had to figure out which 4 cheeses I wanted based off apperance only.

  2. The fourth and fifth pictures in particular hurt my soul on a very fundamental level. They look like something you’d be served in business class on an international flight.

  3. I’m just going to toss some broccoli on the plate and let them fall where they may. It’s a statement on the plight of the migrant worker.

  4. I know Gary Danko is old school, and some of it could be chalked up to really poor lighting, but this still looks awful. Especially the beef dish; that is straight up criminal.

    Old school and looks tired. This is how once-great restaurants sometimes end, not with a bang but with a whimper.

  7. I live in the bay and was not impressed by gary danko like 10 years ago. Never went back. There’s just too many great options to consider it.

    Danko has been off their game for a while now, they just have a very loyal local following with the older rich pac heights crowd that keeps them afloat.

  9. I got to pic 4 and was like “what in the cafeteria F”, then pic 5…on the upside, next time I have a dinner party and my plating is crap I’ll say “I learned this from Gary Danko…”.

    Fourth and fifth look like what you’d get out of a mid management team building cooking class.

  11. Man, I swear this is the third or fourth time this place has appeared on here with thoroughly underwhelming reviews and consistent themes, food tastes okay, but poor service, plating, and overall experience.

    It just looks sloppy (I do fancy some of those cheeses though).
