I collect cookbooks (75?), so thanks for posting. I think the traffic from Reddit caused Amazon to jack up the price though. It’s up to $8.41 now. Still a deal though for a cookbook that thick.
You need to go to some Thrift Shops. At a good thrift shop, the books never cost more than $5 anyway, but no one ever wants vegetarian cook books so they tend to be the cheaper ones and are usually tons of them.
Don’t forget libraries those are like 50 cents to 2 dollars or some sometimes free. I got this one for a dollar

I have two different editions of this cookbook: one hardcover and one paperback, and both different than the one you bought. They mostly have the same recipes, with some slight differences. I bought my copies about 20 years ago. I’m glad to see that you can still find it.
It’s an excellent cookbook and I highly recommended it. Probably half of the meals that I make each week are from this cookbook.
It’s so funny to read this. That’s what Amazon started as, an online book retailer. I would buy used ones when I was younger and thought I was a genius asking my parents to buy Forever by Judy Blume for $1 (and neglect to mention the $5 shipping).
