Went solo in late December as a little Christmas gift to myself. Tasting menu was delicious, but some of the course were a bit too salty for my liking. Service was impeccable. I told my waiter I had taken the week off work and was doing a bit of a food tour around the city and he gave me a couple of really great recommendations that I enjoyed later in the week
Didn’t do the wine pairing but opted for a half bottle of white and a glass of red for the last few courses. Somm was super knowledgeable and spent 10 minutes talking to me about the red wine i selected and the vineyard in Oregon it came from
Overall it was an amazing experience, well worth the money to cross off one of my bucket list restaurants!
Edit: oh one other note, I really appreciated the open kitchen and being able to see the chefs at work. It looked like a well oiled machine and everyone was calm, cool and collected throughout the service. Really cool to see behind the curtain so to speak

This place truly had an amazing staff. They paid attention to every move I had from across the room. The food here is also awe inspiring. Only thing I didn’t like was they enforce a dress code. I was wearing shorts and my clogs (this was in July and I was walking everywhere that day). I ended up having to buy some random pants and shoes at the nearby gap so they could let me into the dining area.

I’ve eaten at multiple Michelin star restaurants in Finland and Aquavit is right on point with their flavors IMO

Why so many comments about aquavit and Samuelson? Hasn’t there been 2 long tenured exec chefs running the place for more than a decade? Jernmark took over in what, 2009? Bengtsso in 2014?
Why are we still seeing Samuelson discussed? Is he participating in some concept? I get why people might reference him, because he blew up while working there, and when new Nordic was the it thing, but we’re a decade past that. I think the peak interest ended when Claus Meyer’s food hall in Grand Central closed after a meh run.
