I went for lunch at a restaurant by former senior sous chef at two michelin started Ikoyi in London and was met by the astounding flavors of a young chef named Toshi. Only opened for about 7 months already, there is not much known about this hidden restaurant in the Yoyogi area of Tokyo. Chef Toshi greatly uses his experiences from Kiln and Ikoyi in London to create a masterful blend of African spices, wood grilling, and Japanese ingredients. The service team was very enthusiastic and talkitive and Chef Toshi was very willing to have a chat after service and very receptive to feedback. He is a chef that is creating flavors that many chefs double his age wish they can come up with. I am very confident that he will get a star in the next michelin guide, but also hope that more local japanese will come as it seemed a bit empty during my visit and hope they thrive and survive in the future. I hope he gets all the support he needs as I feel he is very under the radar at the moment. His lunch menu is a screaming deal at roughly $25 per person. Please give him a chance if you are coming to Tokyo.

  1. I wish you hadn’t posted this 🙂 I live nearby this restaurant and visit often. The dinner course is of equal value, and they open up for drinks at the bar as well. Given the area, I’m sure it will pick up in popularity like places like Sio.
