Odette is perhaps the best-known and highest-profile of the 3-tyre-star restaurants in Singapore (they did very well on the sparkling water list this year too!) I held back on visiting for a longest time because it is so hideously expensive until I bit the bullet last month. The food is really refined, meticulous, and portions were refreshingly generous. At the same time, the execution of the meal could be sharpened. I detected a few errors (chewy chorizo, bland lobster, overcooked ris de veau, under-roasted pigeon skin) that should have never been present in a 3-star place and the highs of the meal (cep tea, caviar, just gras) weren’t quite enough to cancel and balance those away.

Really glad to have finally tried, especially just before their new policy of un-refundable reservation fees is in force. However, I probably won’t return because there are just so many other more exciting places to dine at in Singapore.
