Delicious meal at the legendary ‘Pied De Cochon’ in Montreal. One of Bourdains favourites, based off the food you’d eat at a maple shack in Quebec, but fancier.

  1. Love, love, love Au Pied!! We’ve been there twice and never fails to impress! The best foie gras poutine ever hands down! The PDC dinner was my favorite. We went to Cabana D’a Coté for a summer picnic and it was a delight, worth the 1 hour drive from Montreal.

  2. Went last year, one of my favourite meals ever. The duck in a can was great, but for our money the cassoulet was the best dish followed closely by the pork chop.

Heading back to Montreal in April for Joe Beef & Gibby’s!

Am I the only one who was let down here?

The foie cubes were great (but how difficult is that to fuck that up really?). The rest of the meal was not bad but also nothing special. What I remember was being excited for then very let down by a venison tartare, seeing the whole pig head being served at a nearby table, and then trying to find poutine and beer after.

  4. Went in November last year and we got terrible service, our mains were served almost an hour later and only after we flagged down our server. I ordered an apple pie for dessert, and on the menu it said it came with ice cream but our server said that there was no ice cream only after we asked about it. Table beside us got it with the ice cream and the server came back with some as well and told us that she “found some” in the back.

I do believe that it was a one-off thing that happened but definitely not going back there again.

  5. Love that place! Horse ribs and horse tartare were specials and delicious the last time I was there.

Have you been to their Sugar Shack (Cabane à Sucre Au Pied De Cochon) ? Its a gluttonous masterpiece. I probably took a few years off my life between all of the sugar and fat involved.

  7. I went in 2016 as my first solo dining experience, and found the service to be excellent.

The food was good but I would have preferred to have gone with others, to enjoy a wider selection of dishes. I had a tomato tart and a lamb shank with foie gras and it kept me fed for several days.
