I’m curious about some of the most memorable dinnerware you’ve encountered while dining

I loved these plates from Restaurant Jan in Munich, Germany. The design is specially made for Restaurant Jan by Stefan Strumbel, a German artist and a personal friend of Jan Hartwig.

My friend and I prefer late reservations, so we often end up as the last table which sometimes has perks (like being able to hang around with the staff/chef, provided they are feeling sociable). When I asked the team to explain the significance of this phrase and why it was so resonant, they had a hard time explaining as it is both literal and philosophical.

I feel like dinnerware at so many establishments is the same… it’s nice to see people do something original!

  1. Heimat is the Swedish word for the way it feels to visit your home town. Unless I’m mistaken. Probably am.
