Finally getting around to posting this after being busy the past week but here was our meal at Commis (**) in Oakland on Christmas Eve. The meal was excellent, well paced over the 12 courses and not too terribly priced at $225 per person plus a $20 supplement to add shaved truffle to the congee dish. Wine pairing was $100 IIRC but we opted for cocktails instead which were great. (Didn’t get any pictures unfortunately)
Standout dishes were the scallop gaufrette, sea bream, the slow poached egg yolk, & the congee. Only dish I felt disappointed with was the beetroot, which I found to be rather bland.
Overall I highly recommend it here! This was my first 2 star, I’ve been a bunch of 1 stars and one 3 star and this was probably my favorite meal I’ve ever had. The dishes all felt innovative and of course were delicious.
