Two-starred restaurant in the heart of San Sebastián. It was my personal favorite restaurant of my trip to Basque Country last Summer (Azurmendi was a close second). Amelia sets themselves apart from the rest of the fine dining restaurants in the area by drawing heavily on international influences (Japanese cooking techniques, italian/Asian ingredients, etc.) Overall, I think they’re 1 of the best current restaurants in Spain and should be well on their way to a 3rd Michelin star.

1. Presentation of different ingredients that would make appearances throughout the evening

2. Ebi prawn tartlette

3. Bonito smoked with sancho pepper

4. Tuna belly, caviar, fresh grated wasabi

5. Grilled squid and guanciale

6. Amberjack sashimi, tomato

7. Chawanmushi with king crab, iberico pork, black truffle

8. Bread, selection of different butters, salts, olive oils

9. Grilled lobster, beurre Blanc, Japanese puffed rice

10-11. Squab, served with onion purée and grilled maitake mushroom.
(They also offered a Japanese Wagyu supplement which I declined but the diners next to me insisted I try some of theirs. It was fantastic)

11. Talleggio cappelletti, razor clam

12. Banana, rum, caviar

13. Cheese and cherry flan

14. Apple, salted caramel

Not pictured: they offer a shot of limoncello from a limoncello selection. First time I’ve had this but it was really unique and it was also free 🙂

15. Mignardises: lemon tart, turron, soba yuzu, white chocolate/kefir lime, pistachio.
