Did the Chef’s Tasting surprise 9 course option at Ristorante Santa Elisabetta last night and had an incredible time. We opted out of the wine pairing, but the somm was happy to help us with a couple of glasses to pair.
Overall was an incredible experience and I would definitely go again. Out of the 30 or so starred restaurants I’ve been to it’s easily in the top 5. For reference we went to Il Palagio (*) the night before and it wasn’t in the same solar system as Santa Elisabetta.
The chef was a sauce master and all the flavors combined incredibly well. The service was up there with arpege, le louis, and caprice. The ambiance was the only thing I think could use work, but it wasn’t bad, just plain. The restaurant is an intimate experience with only 10 tables in a 12th century Byzantine tower, but would never know it had any history unless you asked.
Improved interior design and stronger story branding is the only thing that’s holding this restaurant back from a 3rd star.

About your last sentence, Michelin says they only rate the food and nothing else.

I visited this restaurant around a year ago and I absolutely loved it as well. I’ve only ever visited a couple of two star restaurants but none of them even come close to Santa Elisabetta
Ah, one of the finest dining experiences I’ve ever had. We opted for the wine pairings, and we did the coffee tasting after. Spectacular! Thanks for sharing your pics.
