Accidentally posted in r/charcuterie instead of this sub and got this rude message almost immediately

Use this time to think about what you did, and how you can be better going forward.

  2. Economy_Upstairs_465 on

What? Derp. You don’t want their trashcuterie cluttering your plate anyway. lol

  3. Hahahaha! Reminds me of how much the car mechanics forums hate getting pictures of damaged, treadless tires with the question “ Is this safe to drive?”

Welcome to Reddit! This is like 90% of mods. They work for free, they’re accountable to no one, they have way too much time on their hands and they’re gonna make sure you feel their day to day pain. Just be glad you’re only temporarily banned.

Can you imagine being on a power trip bc of gatekeeping an online Internet forum about CURED MEATS. Some people man

  6. Pomegranateprincess on

Most mods are power tripping overlords. Don’t sweat it. Says was more about them than you.

Damn, one word off and they get pissy huh?! Prolly cause they don’t have a board for their cheeses!🤣🤣🤣

I bet this happens a lot. Poor guy is at the end of his rope trying to keep his sub on topic.

  9. AddictivePotential on

That’s amazing. Can you post increasingly bad pictures every time you’re unbanned? Like packages of babybel on a plastic dollar store cutting board?

Excuse me there is no room for “little snacks” on the charcuterie sub. How dare you.

    /s 🤣

I had some mods in a thread about giving emotional support, tell me that they are not therapists to help with toxic family. I mentioned one sentence, “I can’t go to my mom because she’ll make it about herself.”

Then they “politely” suggested I find therapy. All written in a disgusting tone of elitism.

A lot of mods are very miserable people because only(mostly) miserable people will moderate.

  12. But they allow 95% of the non-charcuterie posts to pass. WTF? Before anyone posts here, go read the definition of a charcuterie board.

I don’t know why this post is showing in my feed, I’ve never looked up or acknowledged charcuterie before. But I’m dying laughing at this post lol

  14. Unpopular opinion: while the wording of that response is a bit salty (like cured meat!), they’re not wrong. When “boards” became popular on IG a few years ago people who were previously not familiar with the term “charcuterie” started to use that word and boards interchangeably, even if the board they created had no cured meat on it whatsoever (e.g. “dessert charcuterie” which is NOT a thing). So, as a person who is a writer and loves words and etymology, as well as languages, I can completely appreciate wanting to keep that space “correct”—posts should focus on *actual* charcuterie, where the mods here seem to be a bit more…flexible…with that definition.

And before anyone tries the ol’ “bUt DEfiNitiOns cHanGE oVEr TiMe” argument…no…that doesn’t apply in this case. It’s people who literally did not know the proper definition misusing the word. And in general, Americans are loathe to make an effort to learn other languages or respect other languages, so they bend words to fit their preferred definitions.

    /end rant

This just makes me want to create the messiest charcuterie board ever with NO MEAT at all on it and post it over there. 😆

Yeah.. moderators suck. I got banned from spiders for 2 WEEKS as well as my posts on a particular thread removed because I said it wasn’t safe to hold spiders if you didn’t know what they were. (The OP was holding a huge spider asking for an ID). I explained to the Mods that even if it’s not deadly it can still be harmful. They insisted that was ‘misinformation’ 🙄

Sorry this is off topic but I wanted to feel heard I guess 🙁

To be fair I can’t tell whether that’s pre-bought and it doesn’t look like junk. I sympathize with them wanting to keep their community on topic but they’ve chosen a name that is commonly associated with something else rather than its literal definition. Either choose a new name that is better suited or be more respectful during the mishaps that will inevitably come
