Pujol – Tasting Menu ($3,495 pesos or around $190 USD)

Pujol exceeded my expectations immensely! The food, the service, and the atmosphere, all provided me the highlight of a trip to Mexico City. I also dined at Rosetta, Contramar, and Meroma.

Here are some notes below:

The famous baby corn amuse bouche provided a great flavor to start the meal.

The bluefin tuna crudo in the heart of palm juice with pico de gallo was a phenomenal bite. The amount of acidity was perfect.

The braised lamb was also some of the most tender lamb I’ve ever eaten. Truly great balance of lean parts and fat that were complemented with a side of roasted eggplant, salsa, guacamole, and homemade tortillas.

The mole lived up to the hype and provided some of the most complex flavors I have experienced. I did the wine pairing and this dish was paired with a Voile d’Argile La Rectorie that brought out a ton of spice and had my tongue on fire for a crazy sensation that the others who didn’t have wine didn’t experience.

The chocolate cream puffs were a wonderful way to end the meal.

I would highly recommend Pujol to anyone visiting CDMX. I look forward to trying Quintonil the next time I make it out there.
