5: Bacalao
6 + 7: Baked Red Snapper

The highlight was no doubt trying my father’s Bacalao. Dessert was overwhelmingly disappointing.

  1. I admit I don’t get the appeal of Le Bernadin; everyone raves but I’ve been multiple times and never understood what everyone is so excited about.

The tuna / foie dish is literally two ingredients with some salt and a couple dots of oil. I’ve usually found my fish overcooked. Most dishes seem to be a handful of ingredients prepared in a way that’s “fine”.

Beyond that, there are so many supplements and one has the sense that VIPs and critics get totally different meals with rare ingredients not even made available on the listed menu.

It seems you were pretty happy other than dessert? Funny because I’ve always found dessert was the highlight for me! The warm madelines were usually the best bite of the night.

Perhaps if you consider it omakase with a fork and knife, it makes more sense, and is even a “bargain?” 🙃 I went for the first time this week, actually posted my thoughts in this sub earlier today. The thing that mystified me was the bread service. Perhaps warming the bread was one of those supplements?
