Visited El Retiro in Llanes for lunch a few days ago, and everything, including service, was excellent. If you find yourself on the northern coast of Spain, I strongly recommend it.
Dishes are in order from start to finish with the first four pictures/dishes all served at once to start, and a picture of the gazpacho is not included. Dishes 8-10 had a sauce/broth poured after the picture. We opted for the optional cheese course for €8, and the menu picture is at the end.
My favorites were the cod skin (4), the calamari tartar (8) served with a squid ink sauce, the pigeon (11), and the chocolate sponge (14). The sponge was nothing like I’ve had. When you put it in your mouth it would melt and turn into a mouse of sorts. Overall a great lunch at a great price!
