I ate at Maison Tateru Yoshino, a restaurant that received its first Michelin star this year. I had never been to a Michelin star restaurant before and since my trip to Japan is a "once in a lifetime" trip, I decided to book a resevation about a month before my stay at ANA Crowne Osaka, which is where the restaurant is located.

Atmosphere: pleasant. The restaurant us a bit isolated from the rest of the hotel, but the atmosphere is very peaceful. They were a few couples celebrating events, I was there alone.

Service: Excellent, very attentive, but not constantly at your elbow. I sat in one of booths and the server pulled out the table if you needed to get up to use the restroom or something. Utensils were replaced quickly at each course with utensils suitable for the next course. They covered the hot dishes if you left your seat. Also, since I was staying at rhe hotel,I was walked back to the elevator and assured that I got in the elevator safely back to my floor. Overall, great service!

Food: I picked the Menu Degustation, which was plenty for me. I had a glass of champagne with the whole meal. I booked on a night when the original chef Yoshino was apparently around. Don't know if that made a difference.

Everyone receives the tower of treats prior to the appetizers. I can't recall the treat at the top, but it was delicious. The second food was a cheese in a pastry, delicious. And the third was a macaron, also delicious.

The appetizer was a meat jelly, a potato creme, topped with beet mousse. I am not a beet person, but this was absolutely delicious. The meat jelly was really good too and went with the beet really well.

The cold soup with potatoes was delicious, smooth in consistency, and bread bits added a nice crunch to it.

The foe gras, with red wine cream, and tomato sauce thing, was very good. The texture was really good and just had the right flavor. The red wine sauce definitely helped.

The sixth picture (sorry I forget what it is) absolutely just melted in my mouth. The pepper sauce added additional flavor.

The sea bass was also delicious, with a good texture, and also easy to eat and not chewy. The articokes served with it were delicious and I am not a vegetable version.

The pigeon, which was the main dish, was cooked perfectly and juicy. The stock juice added a little bit of extra juice to the meat. The vegetables were good too.

The ice cream was nice, and had a bit of a tart flavor. A nice palate cleanser.

The tart was absolutely delicious. It tasted of lemon, with the lime meringue and the cookie was a nice touch.

The meal ended with three little pastries, the macaron and jelly were delicious. The chocolate treat was too, but maybe a little too crunchy for my taste.

Overall, I highly recommend this place. If you're ever in Osaka, see if you can get a table. It wasn't busy when I was there, but it might busir once thr holiday time is over.
