Overall enjoyed the tasting menu at commis recently but my rental car got broken into in broad daylight and in a highly foot trafficked area. I didn’t think the meal was at a 2 star level though. The chicken dish was super boring and bland although curry and lemongrass sounded really promising as the composition of the dish. I really appreciate the restaurant manager who alerted us as soon as we entered to take our belongings out of the car. It’s a pity that Oakland has such a great food scene these days but if these break ins continue it’s really going to be hard on the restaurants there to get business from tourists. I will think twice before going to Oakland again and will definitely not drive there in a rental car. It’s a pity that San Francisco and Oakland are going through such a crisis on crime and homelessness.
