I love Pirq coffee drinks (110 cals, 12 grams protein), but they are expensive and I buy too many of them. Sooo, I made a successful copycat version (right pic)!

The Pirq drinks are soooo good, imo. I like that they are chilled, taste great, and the macros are perfect for in between meals. But they are $2.25 ea, which adds up if you drink them 3x a day.

The unsweetened vanilla Silk pea protein milk has 110 calories and 10 grams of protein. If you add approx 1 Tbsp of cocoa powder that adds an additional gram of protein. Silk is about $4 per 8 cups which means it’s 50 cents per serving. I think my duplicate is probably around 60 cents which saves me at least $5 a day which is a savings of over $1800 a year. Adding in interest, I would save over $20k over 10 years by making my own drinks. So, it’s worthwhile.

You could easily use the Silk chocolate pea protein milk instead of separately adding cocoa, but I only had the unsweetened Silk vanilla.

First I added cocoa powder to a little hot water and stirred. Then added one cup of unsweetened vanilla Silk protein milk, strong chilled coffee, salt, salted caramel flavoring, and splenda to taste. Keep adjusting the salt, sweetener, coffee until you get it how you want. Chill for about one hour.

If you compare label info, Silk pea protein milk has some of the same ingredients as Pirq.

  2. Oooh def going to try this thx! Years ago I used to drink gevalia’s protein almond milk coffee drinks in a similar container. Loved em but not worth the cost.
