This meal was a splurge for myself and my husband on our honeymoon. We have visited multiple Michelin star restaurants and were very much looking forward to this meal. The highlight was the open kitchen concept and being able to watch the chefs during our meal. Unfortunately, we were otherwise let down by the experience. While the staff were professional, the food was good, and the plating elegant, it wasn’t the experience I expected when visiting a three Michelin star restaurant (especially at that price point).

Few of the dishes were truly exceptional, which is something I have come to expect with this kind of experience. My favorite course was the squid, my husband’s the mussels moqueca.

If I had spent half the money, I would have left with a different opinion, but I just wasn’t wowed. I left feeling disappointed and that my money would have been better spent elsewhere

  1. Bummer to hear that. I will be in BCN this fall and I was thinking of Tres Hermanos as a place to hit up but now I am questioning it….

  2. Sorry to hear that! I was there a couple months ago and really loved it (I thought it was significantly better than the other fine dining spots I went to in BCN, ABac and Enigma); it looks like a couple of standouts I had (peas + ham, pigeon paella) have been changed though

  3. Sorry to hear about your mediocre experience! To offer readers another opinion, I was in Barcelona a few months ago and found Cocina Hermanos Torres to be nearly perfect. All of the dishes were interesting, thoughtful, and delicious, a few were truly stunning, and the service was warm and effortless.

For context, on this extended trip I also visited Disfrutar, Azurmendi (near Bilbao), and Epicure (in Paris). I was fully expecting Disfrutar to be my favorite meal, and while the food was mind-blowing and fantastic, the overall experience was a bit rough around the edges (a few awkward service mistakes). I was pleasantly surprised by how flawless Cocina Hermanos Torres was in comparison. Torres ended up being our favorite from the trip, which was surprising considering how much I love experimental gastronomy.

  4. Oh wow, they’ve upped their prices quite a bit…

Visited them two years ago when they had two stars, when Spain was just easing Covid lockdown restrictions. Menu + wine pairing went for 300 Euro, now that costs 465 together, with the menu now (295) going for what I paid for both together back then, lol.

Was blown away back then, was my first two star restaurant that I visited AND on top of that, my first proper vacation after being forced to stay home for months in 2020… Always thinking back very fondly of that visit.

The setting of the open kitchen really is what makes the restaurant special to be honest, and what makes it stand out, and what makes it worth visiting the restaurant in the first place.

Menu looks quite different, squid and desserts are the only dishes that remaines the same.

  5. I had one of the best experiences here… even el celler service wasn’t up to par, still great but not wow. I went to Lasarte and that was disappointing.
