9-course lunch for $143.60 per person (185,000 won). You need to choose between the peanut statue or the “New York to Seoul” dish, which is unfortunate because this restaurant is perhaps the best at making dessert out of many Michelin star restaurants I’ve been to in Seoul. I feel like most Asian restaurants honestly neglect dessert because I think they assume Asian people don’t like dessert. (I’m Korean and I love dessert, lol) I forgot to mention that the orange statue is in the shape of a dolhareubang, a traditional Jeju Island stone sculpture that symbolizes that island in Korea.

Elegant, classic, and new flavors abound at this popular 14-year old 2-Michelin star Korean restaurant. Jungsik (정식당) has 2 locations in Seoul and NYC, both of which have 2 stars. I went to the Seoul one in June.

The standout dishes were the caviar dish – the tomato jelly was delightful, and I liked the variety of textures – the seafood broth one (probably just because all the ingredients were fresh, though) – the lamb dish, which combined lots of strong funky flavors into a harmonious dish – and the New York to Seoul dessert.

This place is not too experimental and it’s pretty middle of the road when it comes to traditional Korean vs. Western. But it executes at a pretty high level so I had a good time here.
