Hello everyone, I dined at Crony 2* in Tokyo, Japan on Mar 30. It was one of the most amazing dinners I’ve had and I throughly enjoyed what the restaurant had to offer. It was approx. $170/pp and I got the wine pairing which was only for 7 main courses, and that was an additional $65. I didn’t include pictures of the wine because I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to wine pairing and tasting and this was the first wine pairing I had ever gotten. My favorite dish was the Sakura Cheese dish. It was a one bite dish and once you bit into it there was an explosion of liquid cheese and it was just absolutely amazing. As the server described it, “a small cheese bomb.” Also, the Gateau au chocolate was so incredibly airy and light that it would immediately start to melt away once you started to bite into it. I’m not sure if I can find the right words to describe it and I’m still baffled at how they got it so light and full of air, All in all, an amazing dinner. I love what Chef Michihiro is doing and I hope to go back again soon in the future.

Forgot to mention they baked an entire sourdough loaf for us and we got to take the leftovers home with us. We ate it in the morning and it was still delicious!

    Edit: Added some info

  2. Very interested in dish number 7. The spring onion and bamboo shoots. Can you tell more about it? What did they do with the ingredients? Looks like some kinde of gel/foam with a little broth of some sort? And then a tuille on top with some powder?

  3. Looks delicious! I’m curious how much of the uptick in Japan releated content on this subreddit is related to the foodies of the world descending upon Noma’s Kyoto pop-up. Certainly noticed an uptick. Though that probably just has to do with the country finally opening up some more.

  4. I love how much desserts there are. I would be so excited to get that many what look like amazing desserts. Such beautiful looking dishes too.

  5. Thanks for sharing! I have a reservation coming up next month! Did you find it heavy? I’m not a huge eater so I’m worried about the number of courses.
