Chez Bruce in London, my third time here. Overall an excellent experience but maybe not quite as good as my first two visits.

CB is an old fashioned place, it’s had one star and a similar men for decades. So not the place for innovation, more like french staples done very well. Big portions as you can see, and it’s £77.50 for three courses, so far cheaper than a lot of what I see posted here.

First course- chicken liver parfait, duck rilette and brioche. A French stable, I knew what I was getting and it didn’t disappoint.

Main- veal cheek Blanchette. Probably the weakest course. The veal was incredibly tender but the whole dish was a bit under seasoned, the sauce lacked flavour. Still nice but my previous mains here were 10/10 and this was a 7/10.

Dessert- rum and raisin ice cream with brioche and charred bananas. I find it hard to describe desserts but this was really nice.

Cheese- extremely generous portion. Comes with a supplement but 100% worth it.

The service is incredible, can’t fault it at all.

If you’re looking for an old school French meal at mid range (by fine dining standards) it’s an excellent choice.

Also lucky enough to have visited Leroy this weekend so I’ll post about that later.
