  1. The veg thali I posted [last time](https://www.reddit.com/r/vegetarian/comments/116qr4s/veg_thali_rajma_masala_masoor_dal_mattar_pulao/) was North Indian. Today for lunch I went with foods from the South. Clockwise from the top:

    – [Thakkali Sadam](https://www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/thakkali-sadam/) (Tomato Rice)

    – [Sambar](https://www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/andhra-sambar-recipe-how-to-make-south-indian-sambar/) (Spicy pigeon pea soup with tamarind)

    – [Pesarattu](https://www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/andhra-pesarattu-whole-moong-dosa/) (Whole Moong Dosa)

    – [Baked Medu Vada](https://bhavnaskitchen.com/medu-vada/) (Urad dal fritters)

    – Coconut Chutney in the center, the one thing on the thali that was storebought.

I didn’t hold too strictly to the above recipes. They’re more of a general guide. Indian food rewards improvisation. For a comprehensive introduction and guide to this cuisine, I highly recommend [Dakshin: Vegetarian Cuisine from South India](https://www.amazon.com/Dakshin-Vegetarian-Cuisine-South-India/dp/9625935274). It also happens to be the most beautiful cookbook in my collection. Seriously, the photos in it are works of art!

  2. Looks incredible. South Indian food is my absolute fav cuisine in the world. It takes a great amount of work and time to get right!

that looks like a lot of lot to taste a lot of different things I just looks amazing

  4. Those dosas (plural of dosa?) look awesome, a little crunchy and a little chewy. I haven’t had them that way in a long time. Maybe I’ll have to try making them myself.
