  1. Tofu is expensive compared to soy curls and seitan. But it does have its uses.

    Edit: here are the facts.

Tofu is $.04 per gram of protein, soy curls are $.036 per gram of protein and seitan is $.017 per gram of protein.

  2. Does anybody know whether China has government grants or programs to preserve its culinary heritage? The way the article ends I’m afraid all this will be gone in 40 years.

  3. Wow, what an interesting read. Some of the foods mentioned in the article sound absolutely incredible. Tofu is such a versatile food!

Yep. My partner was born and raised in china, left when she was 22. She is the biggest meat eater I know, but LOVES a good tofu dish.

  5. I love stinky tofu! We had it in Taiwan and it had an incredibly robust flavour! I don’t fancy making it at home though, you could find the market stall selling it from a few streets away

I’ve only had stinky a few times and I just love it. I always look for it on a menu. I’d love to know if it could be made in an American kitchen

  7. I need to shop at Asian stores more, I often buy a block of tofu and don’t know what to do with it other that just chop it and toss it in
