Belcanto was a good experience but we had done minibar the night before which was a much more unique location and you got a lot of the same interesting touches there like el bulli olives. So I’d do one or the other and minibar was a fraction of the price.

Food was solid. We definitely enjoyed our food. Plating was solid. Flavours were great. Just the right amount of food.

I don’t remember what we did for wine here but the list had great wine from all over Europe.

Service was solid, people were friendly and knowledgeable, food came quickly. Right on par with many other 2* restaurants we’ve been to. Probably would have been more impressed had we not just been to minibar.

Last post for a bit as these were many of the 2*+ or world renowned restaurants we did in 2023. We live in Vancouver so I’ll post the odd dinner here but fine dining isn’t the same here. We love it here and the food is amazing but we are a far cry from any 3* restaurants here.

Thanks for the kind comments and questions. We’re heading to Japan in a couple months so I’ll be asking some questions here to help us on that trip.

  1. Great pics and review, thanks!

I know you touched on it in the review, but how would you say Minibar compares to it? I’m planning a weekend trip to Lisbon this summer and Belcanto was originally high on my list, but we already have a lot of expensive plans for this year as it is, and I’m starting to doubt if it’ll be worth it. I’d already looked at Minibar as a good way to try Avillez’s food without the 200+ per head price tag, would you recommend it?
