Collaboration Dinner at Crony in Tokyo, Japan with Thevar from Singapore. I usually avoid these types of collaborative events, but this one intrigued me enough to venture out for the evening.
I went in with low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised! Every dish was a hit, and the service was refreshing with Crony staff and Thevar staff alternating throughout the course. For the Thevar dishes, several ingredients were brought to Japan but others were sourced locally, giving a unique twist to their mainstay dishes.
There was an off-menu offering of Thevar’s take on Biriyani using one of Crony’s staple dashis to add a local hint of flavor. It was my favorite dish of the year so far.
The Thevar staff was excited all evening and anxious to engage with my wife and I as we pinged them with questions. We had a lot of fun and look forward future opportunities like this.
